Learning & Development

A Learning Culture

Our talent strategy aims to build a strong pipeline of highly skilled and talented people who can reach their full potential whilst contributing to the changing needs of the business.

Our in-house centre of excellence ensures that learning and development is shaped to fit the culture, ethos and job roles within the company.

Our development portfolio includes:

  • Executive Development and Coaching
  • Graduate Development Programmes
  • Professional qualification support
  • Technical and job specific skills training
  • Personal development
  • Work experience for Year 11 students and for those excluded from the labour market

Our efforts have ensured we have retained our recognition as an Investor in People.

Career Opportunities

At Norse we believe in growing our own talent and seek to promote from within. Two stories from the many are David Stuart & Julie Norfolk-Clarke.

David has undertaken numerous study programmes including getting an MBA in 2015. His career has grown within Norse. He joined in 1995 as a Mobile Cook Manager, promoted in 1996 to Key Account Manager, and then moved to the Transport Team where he became an Operations Manager. In 2011, he became General Manager for EventGuard and was promoted in 2012 to Production Manager in our recycling plant.

During this time he continued to study and the future looks bright - one to watch!

Julie started work on a casual basis when her children were small and in 2000 as they grew up Julie became an Area Cook. She responded to a letter giving her the opportunity to attend a career interview and got a training position in Payroll. Since then, she has succeeded in getting an IAB in Payroll Management and in 2009 graduated with her Foundation Degree in Payroll Management. From Payroll Advisor in 2001, Julie was promoted to Payroll Consultant in 2007 and then Lead Payroll Consultant in 2012, part of the senior team.
